T06-2158-10. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING,
Dark bay, 15.3 hands, 8 years old

"Power of Surprise" is a natural athlete - a great-looking son of Kissin Kris who earned over $115,000 in his racing career. He has been off the track and retraining under saddle for a few months, and his racing owners are ready to find him the forever home he deserves. Power has taken to life as a riding horse with aplomb: he's going out on the trails (see pic below) like an old pro, and looks like a million bucks. This handsome devil is described as "very sweet, great to handle, and really easy to ride." He did have chips removed from one ankle earlier in his racing career, and is not a jumping candidate, although he's going beautifully on the flat.

Can be seen on the farm in central NH.
Price: $500 to an excellent home.
Call Kathy Macrae, 603-648-6263.

T07-2346-09. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING,
Chestnut, 16.1 hands, 9 years old

"Corporate Intrigue" is very athletic and has the potential to do it all. He just needs someone to take him there! Sound, clean-legged, with a HUGE build and nice way of going. Corporate has no issues and no vices, and has taken to work under saddle like an old pro...will be a great retraining project for showing or pleasure!

Can be seen on the farm in Bernardston, MA
(about half an hour north of Amherst).

PRICE REDUCED: $1,000.
Call Curtis Brown at 413-648-0010
or e-mail pappybrown@verizon.net.

T08-2417-01. TRAINER-OWNED QUARTER HORSE GELDING
Chestnut, 15 hands, 15 years old

"Dakota" is a true "been there, done that" horse - he goes Western, is "120 percent bombproof" according to his owner, great with kids, fabulous on the trails...you name it, he can do it! Sound and healthy, Dakota is looking for a new job as a show or pleasure prospect for a child or adult. He'd also make a natural husband horse!

Dakota is not at the track, but can be seen on the/div> farm by appointment.

Price: $3,000 negotiable. Call Phoebe at 617-913-3666.

2009: BACK IN THE LISTINGS!

T08-2516-08. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Liver chestnut, 15.1 hands with a wide barrel, 11 years old

Calling all buyers looking for a loveable, trustworthy family horse: meet "Gun Is Set"! Apologies to "Gunny" for the rotten photo; he's actually a cutie pie in person. Gunny has a puppy dog personality that makes him a wonderful fit as a kid's horse: he was taken out for photos without a lead rope, and he stood totally relaxed (as you can see from his eyes closed and happy expression in the photo) despite all the hubbub around him. He goes under saddle on the farm, is used to being around kids; with his substantial build, could go Western as easily as English.

Gunny has stayed in excellent condition throughout his racing career, proving his fundamental soundness and stamina (not many horses are still on the racetrack at 11 - older for a racehorse, but at the perfect retraining age for a riding horse). This guy is a perfect all-around prospect: if you're looking for a family project, you'll want to come see him ASAP.

Price: $2,000, very negotiable to the right home.
Can be seen on the farm, between Boston and Rhode Island

T08-2634-11. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Blood bay with unusual heart-shaped marking, 16.2 hands, 7 years old

"Patton's Heart" has an intriguing story behind his name: he has a perfect heart-shaped marking on his shoulder! This horse has always gotten the best of care...he's more like a pet than a racehorse. Patton is handsome, "an angel to work around," says his trainer, and a great athlete.

He has excellent manners, but is a strong boy under saddle; best for an intermediate to advanced rider. He has been under saddle, but his current rider is not experienced enough to make it a match. Owner notes that if you search "Patton's Heart" on YouTube you can see video of him jumping and being ridden.

Price: $1,999 to a great, forever home.
Can be seen on the farm. Call Chris Trakas at 617-697-5555.

SOLD   T09-2644-06. TRAINER-OWNED MARE
Bay, 16.2 hands, 7 years old

"Sue Me" is a tall glass of water with an exceptionally pretty head and neck...and this striking mare is an absolute sweetheart who always tries her best! Trainer has a big barn, needs to cut down her numbers by selling the horses who aren't hitting the winner's circle. Her groom describes Sue as a horse who "doesn't make a bad move - very, very nice to work with!" Lovely show, pleasure, or sporthorse broodmare prospect with her size and bloodlines (Gone West on top, Hail to Reason on the bottom). She's used to life on the farm, turns out with other horses, no vices.

<<See Her On the Farm in Rhode Island>>
Price: $1,000 negotiable. Call Florence Siravo at 401-741-7717.

SOLD    BACK IN THE LISTINGS! T08-2658-10. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Chestnut with chrome, 15.3/16 hands, 4 years old

“Panky Hanky” has a silly name but seriously “wow” looks: great shoulder, rear end, and topline…and how can you resist that face? Panky has been treated well and it shows in his desire to make new friends with every human who crosses his path. He’s finishing consistently at the back of the pack come race day, and trainer wants to find him a happy new home now. Anyone who meets this horse is sure to fall in love!

Price: $500 negotiable. Call Greg Rivera, 857-251-8213.

SOLD    T09-2674-06. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Chestnut with chrome, 16.2 hands, 6 years old

“Coco’s Gold” will grab your attention immediately, with his handsome face and very interesting, flashy markings. On top of that, Coco is a total sweetheart who doesn’t do a thing wrong. Trainer proudly states, “He’s very nice, has no vices, and would make a great horse for a kid someday.”

Not fazed by anything and a big, solid citizen who carry some famous blood in his veins: his sire Lion Cavern is a son of Mr. Prospector out of a Secretariat mare, so you can see where he gets his strapping, muscular build.

Trainer doesn’t want to “get stuck” with his slower horses at the end of the Suffolk meet, so is pricing to sell now.

Price: $500 negotiable. Call Greg Rivera at 857-251-8213.

T09-2684-06. TRAINER-OWNED FILLY

T09-2688-06. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Dark bay, 15.3 hands, 7 years old

“Dynapro” is a horse who has had some off-track training: he has spent time over past winters being ridden as a dressage mount. Trainer would like to see him go to a relaxed home with lots of love and carrots where he can be an all-around performer. Cute package!

Price: $500 Call Donna 603-275-0923

SOLD T09-2691-06. TRAINER-OWNED MARE
Gray (is really white now), 15.3 hands, 13 years old

“Sunny Alarm” is a proven broodmare and is a sound, though forward, riding horse. Her owners have had her quite a while, but don't plan on doing more breeding with her, so would like to find an experienced home where she could excel as a hunter pace or trail horse. (She doesn't seem to like ring work, much.) Owner notes that she has *exceptionally* smooth gaits, so she'd be a very comfortable horse to ride cross-country!

Because Sunny is forward she does require an experienced and steady rider with soft hands, but owner says she "isn't spooky or stupid". Sunny loves company, so it would be ideal if she could be part of a band of mares, or at least have a buddy. Owner will only place horse with a promise to return her if it doesn't work out--she really loves her--but feels that she needs a job now that her time as a broodmare is over.

T09-2693-06. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Bay, 16.3 hands, 5 years old

“Woods Forrester” is enormous! You can see in the picture that the exercise rider is sitting there very casually; while we took the listing the horse stood happily on a lose rein politely asking for pats...and he hadn't been ridden in a week! "Forrest" is a bit crooked up front, so trainer didn't feel it would be fair to stress this guy out and risk injuring him on the track. He raved about what a wonderful character the horse is--and said that while he is green under saddle--he has the kindest disposition of any horse she's ever had and she'd love to see him as a "hack around husband horse".

Price: $500 to a suitable home *only*! Call Cathy: 401.935.8801

SOLD    T09-2706-06. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Chestnut, 16 hands, 7 years old

“Giatano” has been a consistent winner on the track, but trainer knows that he's slowing down and wants to plan ahead to find a home for this striking class act. Does have some wear on his left ankle, but trainer has carefully maintained the horse and he has not been off on it.

Asking $3,000. Call Ernie Poxon at 813-732-5728

T09-2712-06. TRAINER-OWNED MARE
Bay, 17 hands, 5 years old

Asking $3,000, Email Dale at aslm44@aol.com for more information. Can be seen ON THE FARM, south of Boston

T09-2719-09. TRAINER-OWNED STALLION
Dark bay with lots of chrome, 15.1 hands, 11 years old

T09-2728-09. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Bay, 16 hands, 4 years old

“Recommend This” has a serious “wow” factor! This gorgeous gelding will certainly turn heads in the show ring. With a nice compact build and lots of chrome, this guy’s flash is only matched by his great athleticism. Trainer says he’s completely sound, he’s just not a talented racehorse, and she knows that his true calling is in the show ring.

Price: $2,000

T09-2732-09. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Bay, 16 hands, 5 years old

“Leana's Cowboy Dallas” is such a cute guy, and a nice mover! Exercise rider and trainer reports that this solidly build guy is one of their favorite horses, but is sadly no longer competitive as a race horse. They report that he is completely sound, and that when he moves out he goes in a nice frame and is so comfy to ride you could hold a glass of water and not spill a drop.

Price: $2,000

T09-2733-09. TRAINER-OWNED FILLY
Bay, 16.1 hands, 3 years old

“Solana Loop” This sweet little girl is a steal at this price! She had a good time getting lots of pets and attention from the volunteers, and has personality for days. Trainer reports that she is so sweet and quiet a little girl could ride her. Trainer is leaving soon for Florida and would like to find her a new home instead of taking her back to the saturated Florida market. This girl should fill out nicely off the track.

T09-2738-09. TRAINER-OWNED STALLION
Chestnut with Flaxen Mane/Tail, 15.3 hands, 5 years old

“Sky Champion” is solid, stands over a lot of ground and has wonderful coloring! He would be a nice stallion to cross with quarter horse or draft mares given his build. Trainer says "sound, but flips his palette when racing" (which should not be an issue unless you're planning on running with your barn mates at 40 m.p.h.!). Trainer needs to find this handsome guy a home ASAP.
